Banfield doesn’t care for my time. Last week, I brought my dog in for a checkup, and they said that he’d be done in about 30 minutes and that they would call me. I went to pick up a couple of things at the grocery store and got gas. They called my wife and said our dog had an ear issue. We could treat it at home daily for a week or so or they could do the treatment that day and we could not worry about it and bring him back the following week for his second and last treatment for $12 more. She opted for the $12 more and to let them do the treatment. I came back 45 minutes later and still had not received a call. I sat in the parking lot for one hour and they called and asked if I was coming back to get our dog. They had been finished for almost an hour and left me waiting in the parking lot.
Came back a week later and they didn’t take the dog back for 17 minutes after his appointment started. Even worse, the second treatment for his ear cost ballooned from the $12 that we were quoted verbally a week earlier to $146. Get your quotes in writing.

My dog had surgery this pass Friday. She went all of Saturday without doing her necessities. This Sunday morning I called to have her seen by the vet. The Banfield associate at the location were she had surgery told me she could not be seen today. Instead she recommended I take her to
another Banfield hospital or to an emergency hospital.I then asked to speak to the vet just to get another associate telling me the same thing. I find this incredibly unprofessional and unacceptable. Not only could she not be seen, I could not even speak to the vet.

It's better you take your pet to a caring place that won't be neglecful.
Several months ago, the payer to my contract with Banfield changed, and the rep there insisted that an additional file be made, causing two files. When I went to take my doggie to get his shots, they had administered the wrong shots and repeated what he had in his old files. I refused to continue with them because I also had a negative experience with their grooming department at the Yonker's location. I just did not trust them to continue because it was neglectful to not check the right file properly, and to simply take the file that had the same name, though each one had a different phone number. Overall, they are people who have an attitude, who do not care to make a difference with making you feel comfortable. It is hard not seeing exactly how your dog or cat is being treated when you are not in the back to see. I recommend people take the animal where you can see the treatment of your doggie or cat. My last experience, was when a Rep heard me say to a relative of mine that I do not trust Banfield, and Nicki answered at the Pelham location, " What did you say, you're being rude saying you do not trust it here, this is where I work. " She did not bother to ask why or to even reassure me that all would be well - they have poor customer service skills and do not have the work ethic that is conducive to the proper care of a doggie. Please note that I did try several times to try to remove myself from the contract, but they refused and forced me to stay with them, so of course, I had no choice but to make sure I get what I pay for.

I had been a Banfield customer for 16 years, I originally had 2 pups and added third one maybe 8 years ago. The experience was good at the begining but went downhill maybe 5 years ago. It started with the turn over with the vets at the clinic I went to, the care was not the same. I debate to stay and did because I was not able to find a comparable and did not want to leave my pets without care. Last year we had to put down one of our pets and I just had to wonder how the vet never saw anything weird in our dog despite having blood work every 6 months. Did they missed it? I had to continue payments to cover the "discounted" services for 7 more months despite the hundres of dollars we paid at the time of service. I know there is disclosure about that so I just paid. However at that point decided we will not renew for our others two dogs. They send us a appointment reminder so I contacted Banfield just to make sure we were not renewing and was told that the pups could have their last check up and at the end of the contract we would no have any additional balance. So in essence what we were pre-paying would have cover that check up. Unfortunately our home burn down in Februray 2021 to the ground and took our pups. Going to this process has not been easy, so I began to call all our services to cancel including Banfield. To my surprise I was informed that I had to complete the payments under my contract!! So why would I have to continue to pay for services that were never renderrd if what I was paying was going to cover for the service that we never received!! I could not believe it!! what a way to treat a customer that have impecable payments for 16 years during the lowest time of our lives. The Woodstock GA clinic was even worst! These people have seen our dogs for years and didn't even had the courtesy to send a text acknowledging the passing of our pups. Today I've spend an hour and 30 min on hold trying to figure out just my balance to be done with these people.Indeed after waiting got in touch with a rep who kindly told me yes, they just draft the last payment from my account today! I will have other dogs but never again will I use Banfield or reccomend this company to anyone. This Company and their vets clearly are all about money, and prey on animal lovers, but are they? don't think so.
This is regarding the Banfield on Causeway Blvd in Brandon, FL.
If you are looking to spend more money, have your dog leave in worse shape, and be given completely absurd and unfounded advice, boy do I have the place for you!
What an awful experience from start to finish. I took my girl here 3/29/2020 for a bandage change. Just over a week after she had her toe amputated due to a mast cell tumor. She remained totally asymptomatic and had perfect bloodwork. Dr. Brake, the best vet ever, located at Banfield Carrollwood, took an aggressive approach by removing her whole toe, rather than the bottom third, in order to achieve clean margins. My husband, the doctor, and I were all feeling cautiously optimistic. My dog was healing day-by-day, but we ran into a few hiccups along the way. Day one she was in a ton of pain, she escaped from her cone on day three and removed some sutures. Dr. Brake was on vacation, but still took the time to email each day and asked for pictures of the surgical site to monitor her progress. She had some inflammation, to which he recommended hydrotherapy. That seemed to helped tremendously. Then Thursday night, another cone escape. By then, the area was infected and extremely bothersome. My baby licked and licked (or maybe even bit the area), undoing great healing strides and exposing the bone. I took her to Banfield Carrollwood Friday and Dr. Martinez (also an amazing vet), recommended another antibiotic and daily bandage changes. They also gave us a massive cone that she can't get out of. It literally looks like a satellite dish- it's the best! Then Sunday morning, I got a call saying the practice shut down for the day due to a covid exposure. My baby still needed her bandage change, so I frantically called several other locations. And this is when my mental anguish truly began.
This location was able to see her and able to see her quickly. We were happy to take whatever we could, we just wanted to help our girl heal. We had an 11am appointment and they asked for it to be a drop off. There were two doctors, and one just entered surgery. We said this would be fine, because what else can you do? I called to check on her close to her being there for 4 hours, which was absolutely ridiculous! If they didn't look at her until 3pm, why didn't we just have a 3pm appointment? Anyway, the doctor called me back and said my girl broke out of the cone and messed with the site some more! She was supposed to be taken care of there, but they didn't even watch her, and she was in even worse condition than when she arrived. I was livid! How could this have happened?
The doctor informed me she would need to be sedated and scrub the area clean. And that the area was looking and smelled necrotic. She told me probably seven different times she would most likely need her entire leg amputated and the cancer had spread. We were told by her and the nurse to get an appointment with an oncologist basically ASAP. So around 4pm, they gave my girl partial anesthesia and cleaned her wound, and they made us pay for it too. Even though it was their fault. She was extremely dysphoric and this whole thing could have been prevented if they cared about the health of the animals, rather than profit maximization.
So the Friday after, we received our histopathology report stating my girl had a low grade of cancer, no cancer spread into the bone, and we achieved completely clean margins. Absolutely no cancer in her body! If it were up to Brandon location, they would have amputated her leg then and there for absolutely no reason! My girl is thriving now!
I decided to call this location to update them on my girl's progress. I don't ever want anyone else to spend three hours crying like I did, because these quacks don't know what they're talking about. I asked to leave a message for the doctor. The receptionist was extremely confused. She kept asking for my phone number and I said that wasn't necessary, but gave it to her anyway. She also told me I didn't go there, that's because they didn't put my name in their computer correctly, shocker there. And I told her the good news. I wanted it to be a learning experience for her and to know my girl actually was cancer free when she saw her.
Later that afternoon, a tech called and wanted to go over her results to make sure I understood everything. Yeah right, they were saving face and they know it. She told me my dog does have cancer, but it was removed. Yes, that is what being cancer free is. She also said that there is always the possibility the cancer can return. Thanks for that optimism! Lastly, she told me that my girl still may need her leg amputated because the bone was exposed, you know that right? Of course I know that, I'm the one bringing her to the vet every single day. The day after, we had a bandage change with our vet. He told us he is extremely happy with her progress. He thinks there is an extremely low chance the cancer will ever return. He said she is healing wonderfully ...
Banfield's website overall is just not friendly. It's slow and I think the "new features" don't allow us to update our pet's tick, flea, and heart prevention anymore if we were purchasing medication outside of Banfield. Ontop of that there are just way too many options and unnecessary scroll downs/ drop downs on the website making it difficult to navigate through when looking for something.
Horrible customer service and dangerous advice. They advised us to redo all our dogs puppy shots when we questioned why they were very rude. We went to a private Vet who told us that would be extremely dangerous for our pet. When we went to cancel the puppy contract for care they tacked in an additional 600 dollars.
Con artists
I brought my dog to Banfield and had the wellness plan for the last 3 years. Last October my debit card the payments were attached to was compromised. I got a new card and forgot all about notifying Banfield. We never received a phone call, email, alert on my Banfield account... nothing. No notifications, until one day we received a letter in the mail my name had gone to collections!!! 500.00 bill. I was so shocked and embarrassed! We called to pay it right away. The next day I called the Banfield I take my pet to, they couldn’t do anything for me. So I called another number I found for their care center. When I asked why the amount it was so high I was told because they charged me from October to April. (It’s only March) and they closed my account. Their reasoning was they charge for the remainder of the contract and close your account. I was told I can open another wellness plan but would receive no credit. (So I payed for March and April, now have to open another plan and pay for March and April again?????) seriously!!!!. I totally understand the missed payment was my fault but to be told on the phone 3 letters were sent, that was a complete lie. The first notification we received was from collections and that is extremely sad for a business to operate that way. The staff was fantastic and I was so shocked and saddened to see the place run this way. The customer service line was very rude and for that I will not bring my pet back here.
I had scheduled this drop off visit nearly a month in advance. During the time before the appointment, I had scheduled an orthopedic surgery for Rose at OSVS for 3/25/21. Since this would be the last vet appointment before her surgery, I wanted to make sure the doctor knew she was going for the surgery, and to make notes of her current status so we could compare after the surgery. The vet tech that checked us in just brushed this off. Then I was notified that the doctor Rose was supposed to see was in surgery for the morning and was told it would be ‘longer than usual.’ ‘Usually’ a visit takes barely an hour. This visit took 6 hours. 6 hours that I waited in my car with no updates. It wasn’t until I went in around 1pm and sat in the waiting room, the same vet tech who checked us in saw me and asked if I was just waiting to check out/pick up. I said yes but that I also had not received a call from the doctor yet. He told me he would check on the situation, which I appreciated. He returned not even 2 minutes later, stating that the vet Rose was supposed to see had just gotten out of surgery and would be with Rose shortly. I said okay and continued to wait. Not even 2-3 minutes passes and he magically appears with Rose, who was shaken and nervous from what I can only imagine was being in a kennel for 5+ hours around other loud and nervous dogs. He stated “doctor said she looks good!” Still no call from the vet. We checked out and headed home, frustrated and anxious. Today I received the offer to fill out a survey about my experience, and I would like to say... still no call from the vet and a whole lotta nothing on her medical report from yesterday. I’m starting to wonder if she was ever actually seen. When I was asked to give an explanation the person on the phone turned the situation around on ME for not setting aside enough time for my animal to be seen, who I would assume is an HR rep. Months earlier she was prescribed a pain medication for her deformed legs that she did not even need. When given the correct disease she began pooping a lot of blood. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE TOUCH YOUR ANIMAL EVER. You will 100% regret it.
Customer service at Banfield in Albany, CA is rude and unprofessional. The people who help manage and answers the phone are rude and inappropriate. Instead of helping customers solve their pets problems, she attacks customers and makes them feel uncomfortable.
Please do not take your pet to the Banfield Pet Hospital. My 15 week old puppy was seen there once. He was up to date on all of his shots prior to the visit but he needed one more DAPP, a Rabies and a Bordetella vaccine. PetSmart gave me a coupon for a Free visit there so I figured that I would give them a try. What a NIGHTMARE!!! Although I provided them with puppy records including: breeder birth date, bill of sale and shot records they MADE UP a random birthday that made him younger (13 weeks) in order to try and sell more services. The false birth date that they made up meant puppy would need more visits at $49.00 dollars and more vaccinations around $35.00 dollars each. They wanted me to purchase heart-worm medicines from them and when I declined and asked for the prescription to be written Doctors said OK but they would not write it. Braden repeatedly stated that they would not write the prescription until I brought my dog back in 2 weeks for a DAPP booster. A booster shot that my 15 week old puppy did not need since he had already had FOUR prior to the one that he received at Banfield that day making 5 of the DAPP shots administered in 15 weeks AS PER Vet recommendations. Which explains why Braden LIED on the puppies paperwork to make him 13 weeks. Meaning he would need another shot if that age. When I asked Braden to correct the paperwork he was flip and said those other shots my puppy received do not matter and people make mistakes. He NEVER totally corrected the paperwork. Causing further problems. The Doctor that I spoke with at Banfield was Dr. Kennedy I believe and he was only interested in selling insurance plans and the add on services not my pet or his needs. I requested a Bordetella vaccination they gave my puppy the nasal spray. Who knows if they even vaccinated my puppy at all.
Covid is the best thing that could have happened for a DISHONEST clinic like Banfield; they get to lie and cheat without you being able to watch since they do not allow you in the premises.
When I called back to complain, Braden gets back on the phone and claims that he has no boss; he is in charge. I have called their corporate office several times and was given a case number and no one has replied. PLEASE do yourself and your beloved pet a favor stay the HECK away from Banfield Pet Hospitals. Not worth the risks or the trouble.
UPDATE: After nearly TWO WEEKS a Doctor out of the Ohio Banfield finally Followed-up. She did not appear to be to interested in my Overall complaint, but she did have Braden issue credit, I pray that she spoke to him regarding the under handed practices going on at their location as well. Needless to say I will not be returning and I do not recommend.
If I could, I would rate Banfield with negative stars. Banfield killed my precious, bouncy, effervescent kitty and accepted ZERO RESPONSIBILITY for doing so. I won't go into details, simply because it's just too painful.
Mars Inc, yes, the candy company, owns Banfield. Both must be stopped. Please join me in signing this petition to stop the "Killing Field"...
I just signed the campaign: Banfield Animal Hospital needs to be held accountable for pet deaths and bill padding.
It would mean the world to me if you could also add your name to this important issue. Every name that is added builds momentum around the campaign and makes it more likely for us to get the change we want to see.
Will you join me by taking action on this campaign? If so, please visit https://sign.moveon.org/petitions/banfield-animal-hospital?share=80a06b7d-bd15-465a-9f1b-6a11fd7234ec&source=s.fwd&utm_source=s.fwd.
